What would life in this world be without problems? Boring undoubtedly.
Here are some problems therefore to give exercise to the small gray cells.
...........
(Warning: In CanuClass finding the solution of a problem is only the beginning.
Then we have fun trying to find as many plausible solutions as possible)

Travel problems suggested by Les Gamins de Leclerc:
...........
A family of 5 wants to leave on a journey from Paris to Italy. A ticket costs 2000F. How much does the journey cost?
(Please mention  Souad and Caroline in the Subject of your answer)
...........
Mr. Uber wants to go on a journey from Paris to Nantes which costs 2000 F. At his arrival in Nantes a controller says to him: “Sir, Sir, hold it! I must return to you these 500 F.” How much does the voyage from Paris to Nantes cost?
(Please mention Jean-François in the Subject of your answer)
...........
There are 5240 people who want to make go around the world by plane. The airport has 40 planes. On this aircraft one can have up to 750 people.  Chartering a plane costs 23685F and 35 centimes. How much will this voyage cost?
(Please mention Florian in the Subject of your answer)

These problems are for the birds
...........
Inattentive as usual, Marco Antonio glances out the window of the classroom as the kids leave for P.E. He sees 8 birds. Then coming out the door on the other side of the school he sees 13 birds. How many birds did he see in all?
...........
Julio Cesar is walking in the countryside wanting to test his new hunting rifle. He sees 24 pigeons perched on the roof of an old shack. He fires a shot, killing one pigeon. How many pigeons are left on the roof?

Some number and letter series
...........
which had been proposed on the Internet in contests (weekly “Little Math Problem”) of which the youngest winners from all over the world were kids from our class.

Find the missing numbers in this series (won by Julio Cesar, Hector, and Perla e Corina.):

37, 35, 31, 25, 17, __, __
.
and in this one (won by Alfredo, Corina, Perla, and Pedro):
15, 20, 100, __, 19, 24, 120, 115, 23, 28, 140, 135, 27

and this one (won by Fernando, Alfredo, and Martha):

1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, 16, 21, 28, 37, __

and the letters in this one (won by Pedro, Corina, Perla, Cristina, Gemma, Alfredo, e Martha):

A, C, F, H, K, M, P, R, ___, ___....
.
and another letter series (won by Alfredo):
S, F, T, W, T, M, ___
.
however the last one of 1997-98 stumped even our teacher, Mr. Canu:
21, 1211, 111221, 312211, 13112221, ___
(for the correct answer and also Mr. Canu's attempts, click here)

A problem of discipline
...........
Is it the same where you are? Here it seems that it is the worst behaved students who never miss school. At any rate they were all there with the us, 20 in all, the day Mr. Canu had to attend a meeting of the technology committee of the school district.
...........
So a substitute teacher took charge of the class. Needless to say our rascals (and we all know who they are, but, to protect the guilty, we won't mention names; anyhow Mayra took it upon herself to report them to Mr. Canu the next day) our rascals then gave themselves free rein.
...........
They made such an uproar that, in the morning already, the substitute sent 3 of them to the office of the assistant principal. The afternoon, as always, was even worse: he sent 6 of them! How many pupils were not sent to the assistant principal that day by the substitute?

Not difficult enough for you? Then try a tough challenge
