QUESTIONS FOR KIDS [07]
by John Canu inspired by the comics
“DOCTORATE”
updated 980630

Doctor in Leather
The Native American asks the chief's daughter: “Can I fetch anything for you folks, my love?” — “Not for me...” the girl answers “father is busy studying for a doctorate in leather craft!” — The man hurries to the medicine man and tells him: “We have some sick leather at the chief's place!”

What is a doctorate? What is a doctor? Is it the same as a physician? What is the origin of the word “doctor”? Do you know related words in English or in other languages?

What is a medicine man? In what way is a medicine man similar to a physician? In what way is a medicine man different from a physician? Are there any medicine women? What is a shaman?

Click here if you want to answer any of these questions, ask other questions of your own for me or for kids, or make any comment.
